Parks Building Supply History!
Parks Building Supply was started in 1949 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, by Jack J. Parks and four employees. On January 1, 1950, the company was incorporated and has operated under that format since. The company was originally located at 300 Worth Street in a former cotton warehouse and operated there for 27 years furnishing a limited supply of doors, moldings, windows and sheetrock for local builders.
In 1970, Edward D. "Chip" Parks, Jack's son, returned from his service in the U.S. Navy and joined his father in the business. The company continued to grow as a well-respected building supply business with a trusted and reliable commitment to its customers providing excellent products and service with prompt delivery. Chip Parks acquired the company from his father and moved the location of the business to its present location at 2141 Owen Drive in Fayetteville. In 1976, Chip's brother, Gregory Parks, returned to Fayetteville and joined Parks as Vice President and lead salesman. Over the next 32 years, Parks Building Supply's growth and development was successfully aligned to the significant changes and challenges in the building supply industry and the growth of Fayetteville and the surrounding communities. The company was managed solely by Chip Parks from 1972 until his death in 2005. Chip's son Toliver Parks stepped into his father's position as President of the company and Chip's wife Janet Parks is the CEO.
Today the company is a full-service building supply with 20 employees, including a General Manager with over thirty years building supply experience, four key salesman, four purchasing agents, two bookkeepers, a warehouse manager and a delivery team.
Parks Building Supply is capable of fully supplying residential builders and commercial contractors with everything needed. Many positive and impressive changes have taken place during the past three years under the leadership of Toliver Parks. A new showroom focusing on specialty doors and windows has recently been completed, including a design area for customers where they may view a wide range of excellent installed products. Our sales staff ensures accurate and timely deliveries, precise budgeting for projects, and knowledge of new and innovative products that help our customers be more competitive in today's market.
Parks Building Supply maintains a fleet of vehicles with on-site delivery systems and state of the art equipment capable of delivering any size load. Future plans for the company include servicing building materials to the Sandhills and surrounding counties. Our Parks team reflects the same dedication to service and the passionate commitment to customers that Jack J. Parks set forth 60 years ago.
